Post Crappie fishing in Muskoka
Hey Guys,

Just wondering if there are any good spots for crappie in Muskoka. I fully understand that crappie fishing in Muskoka is on the hush hush, but all I'm looking for is a general direction. I keep traveling 1hr 1/2 away for decent fishing and it's killing me in Km's. Any suggestion would be great, I don't know if anyone has fished the Key River area but I heard its great fishing there for crappie and any info for that area would be great.

thanks guys, I hope to get some replies whether its via post or IM......

Good question, I have wondered this as well - I'm new to the area so haven't got too much experience.

From what I heard though they are pretty much non existent in the Big 3.

Apparently there are some smaller lakes in the area that hold them though.

Possibly 3 mile? .

Sorry I'm not much help, but maybe one of the more experience guys will want to help out.

I beg to differ about the big 3.
MNR test netting shows crappie as being in all three big lakes.
A lot of the smaller lakes and pond in the Mactier area have crappie. Healey has crappie.
Glouster Pool has crappie as does Kashe and Riley.

Good luck on your endevour.

Thanks guy's

It's so hard trying to find new fishing holes in an area you are not familar with. I could tell you all about southern ontario region's but up here I have no clue. I'm a die hard fisherman and thought it was going to be easy finding public area's to fish around here but I was wrong, everything seems to be private with no access. As you can see I have no boat just yet, but I'm working on the wife as we speak. Anyways thanks again for the info guy's much appreciated.... : )

I moved up here last May from the Niagara region and I know how you feel for finding shore spots, I have a canoe which helps but anyways crappie fishing was phenominal in the niagara region for whites and blacks especially the Welland River mid section find a good laydown tree and get up to 30 fish off of one tree and fish over 2lbs !!

I hear ya Berend, fishing under Prince Charles Bridge and under the Boyle Bridge use to get me into many many crappie, not to mention Binbrook was very decent. Now I'm having troubles just finding a fishing hole period with out having to invest in a boat. I guess with in due time I will know the area better and find me some quality water to fish.

Where on the Severn? most areas are all private and as I mentioned I don't have a boat just yet. I almost have my wife convinced about a boat so maybe by next month I'll have one. You guy's also talk about Glouchester Pool, is there anywhere from shore you can fish?
