Post Finally
Finally the river fishing is done for me and I'm heading up to open the cottage, get all the toys in the water and do some trolling.
Pike also open this weekend.
After 41 years on the lake I'm finally going to target pike and layoff on the Lakers a bit.
Any help with Pike locations would be greatly appreciated.
I'm located mid lake just in front of Reef Island.

Reef Island.... Lovefishing there in winter... an NHL player owns it. I guess you know that though.

They will either be in the shallow bays or first drop outside the bays. Target with aggressive jerkbaits in smelt or perch patterns. Also fish rocky points.

Made it out a couple of times over the weekend. The van was to full ,so I had to forfiet by leaving my downriggers at home.

Wouldn't you know it. The herrings were stacked at 100 feet and the trout were sitting there with then.

The surface water was 47.5 degrees and not a touch on the flatlines.
I anchored yesterday on one of my winter spots and managed to jig up a nice 4 pound eater. First trout of the open water season. It was yummy.
